ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Pubs have, for centuries, born ideas good - and bad! And it was over a pint when someone said "wouldn't it be nice to have Christmas lights up in Mapplewell?"

"Yes, it would" came the reply. But it was known that there would be fundraising required - and a substantial amount at that... so how?

And so Mapplewell's Beer Festival was born.

The inaugural event was held across a marvellous May weekend in 2019. Together with other donations, over £15,000 was raised that saw 30 lamppost motifs purchased and installed; unveiled at a spectacular ceremonial switch-on event at the end of November.

It was unanimously agreed to make it an annual event; continuing to raise funds for their instal each year and, in the short term, expand the range.
